Most terrier dog breeds are native to the British Isles. Its name, which comes from Latin, means “earth”. They are medium and small animals, with hard, coarse fur and a restless and energetic personality. In this article, we’ll talk about some of them.

It is one of the most unique terrier dog breeds; due to its physiognomy: the head is triangular, as well as its eyes. The bull terrier is famous for appearing in books, movies and advertisements and; although they have the same ancestry as the pit bull, they are two different breeds.

Its body is strong and muscular, the skin is short and white, with a few points on the head, and the ears are pointed. As for your temperament; he is considered balanced, obedient, somewhat stubborn, kind,  intelligent, courageous, active and connected to his owner.

1. yorkshire terrier

This breed arose after the “combination” of terriers from Scotland and England; during the Industrial Revolution. Its name derives from the cities of York and Lancashire. Its small size and its long two-colored fur – brown, gray or black, mainly – are its striking features.

Your vitality and your tenacity are inversely proportional to your height. The  Yorkshire terrier  is a very active dog; likes to be the center of attention at home and tends to bark a lot. To prevent it from becoming a problem; he will need training from a puppy.

1. West Highland White Terrier

The last of the terrier dog breeds on this list was bred in the United States and, of course, is descended from the British. It is a widely chosen pet around the world; due to its small size (it weighs a maximum of 12 kilos).

As for its appearance, the Boston terrier has a flat snout, large, pointed ears, compact body, and a short tail like the extremities; that are strong. It has short hairs and ‘stuck’ to the skin, it doesn’t shed many hairs… its maintenance is very simple!

The terrier is among the most famous dogs in the world. With similar characteristics, British and Americans are chosen for their temperament, size and ease of training.
