1. Moby Dick

The whale that gives the book its name is undoubtedly the protagonist of the story, although the narration is focused on his encounter with a ship commanded by Captain Ahab.

2. Cheshire Cat

3. Bagheera

This black panther is one of the characters in the famous novel  The Jungle Book, by British writer Rudyard Kipling. Their main action is to save Mogli’s life from the claws of the wolves and their leader Akela.

Although the book  The Chronicles of Narnia  gained fame a few years ago thanks to the movies, it was actually a saga written by CS Lewis in the 1950s. 

One of the most famous non-human characters was Aslan, a talking lion, son of Emperor Allende of the Seas.

Aslan means “lion” in Turkish and is a word used to name the sultans, because of their loyalty and bravery.

5. Bear Puff

This cute honey-loving bear is the protagonist of the books created by Alan Alexander Milne,  and lives in a house built inside a tree.
